New Survival Genre

It really does looks similar to hunger games, battle royale and saw, in which the winner must be the last survivor, yet it is a new survival genre in korean drama that i’ve seen.
Problem with Capitalism

This drama shows us both the positive and negative with capitalism. Even though in one side capitalism was meant to help improving human’s life and makes it better, negatively it can be a huge and tight competition that can be ended up with brutal consequences.
Adrenaline Pumping Riddle
Squid game shares to us various traditional korean kids games such as red light green light, the only different is that they put themselves on the line to survive this games.

In the first round, we will learn the traditional korean games red light green light. They are allowed to move when the big girl shouts green light, and freeze as she said red light. Once they failed, they’re dead.

The brutality of this games is a total opposite with the pastel backdrop of the arena which makes just a weird unsettling feelings.

Ali was a protagonist character in the first episode of Squid Game. you will see that near the end of the red light green light game, Ali help Gi hun’s shirt to prevent him falling forward.

We can see that this might ended up not good for Ali, as he is too good to enter this brutal game where you can’t believe anyone. We will see if he will still see him alive after few games with his personality.

However, don’t feel bad about Gi Hun just because he is a total jerk and gambler. At the start of episode 1, we see that Gi Hun actually fed a stray cat on the street. This somehow shows us the good side of Gi Hun, even to a stray cat that most people would think doesn’t even matter.

While Squid game is really exciting to watch and to know how the end would be, yet it is a stressful movie to watch. If you don’t like the feeling of anger and adrenaline to keep pumping up on your body, then you better watch another romantic slow relaxing korean drama rather than this.

However, I can’t wait to know what would be the end of Ali, as well as Kang Sae Byeok and how they ended up in this deadly game. How do you think about Squid Game? Do you like this drama? Let us know in the comment section below!
