Unique Korean Architecture

As we know that Korea is having a really high standart for all aspect of their lives including here is korean architecture. We might already saw some well known designer and architecture did their job for some of korea’s building such as the famous DDP or Dongdaemun Design Plaza by Zaha Hadid that just became one of the must visit tourist spot in Seoul, South Korea.

Galleria Gwanggyo

Galleria Gwanggyo is the sixth branch of Galleria in south korea. This galleria is located in Suwon Area, to be specific, it is located nearby the suwon gwanggyo lake park. Galleria is a forefront of premium retail market in the South Korea.

The store has a textured mosaic stone façade that evokes nature of the neighbouring park. Appearing as a sculpted stone emerging from the ground, the store is a visual anchor in the city. Other than that, inside of this building also really instagrammable for those travel blogger and influencer who can’t miss beautiful spot. So make sure you come in and take some picture inside it.

Seoul Plaza (서울 광장)

Seoul Plaza, which is actually a square located in front of Seoul City Hall, used to be used as a location for public rallies, protests and events. however back then in 2002 the roadway was completely transformed and grassed over, and the modern lively Seoul Plaza with its artwork and culture was inaugurated in 2004. 

The plaza features a refreshing fountain in the summer and an outdoor ice rink in the winter. The outside building is  great for taking a great pictures as they have unique shape glasses all over their fascade.

Ttukseom culture complex

Ttukseom Culture Complex located in Seoul’s neighborhood Jayang [Jayang-dong/자양동]in the Gwangjin District [Gwangjin-gu/광진구]. It is situated in the Ttukseom Han River Park [뚝섬한강공원] and right next to Cheongdam Bridge [청담대교].

There is a J Bugs building that was selected as one of 100 regular filming locations for movies and dramas by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Film Counsil. Another great place for you to take a picture home.

Paradise City Incheon

Incheon Paradise City is located 5 mins away from Incheon International airport to show the great architecture of korea.  Paradise city facilitating the options of boutique hotels, shopping plaza, spa, and other expanded areas of entertainment. Paradise City is called an art-tainment for this reasons and it just so true to its name.

This area is not just good for enjoy some pleasure but also great for you who want to see beautiful architecture in South Korea.

Dongdaemun Design Plaza

Dongdaemun Design Plaza is located in the center of Seoul. Perfect for couples who love the hustle and bustle of the city, Dongdaemun Design Plaza is a modern architectural marvel designed by Zaha Hadid that is home to a variety of design shows, fashion exhibits, and art showcases.

Arium Office Building

the Arium Office Building was designed by architect Kim Chung-up, who studied under Le Corbusier, the father of modern architecture. Back then, gynaecologist Dr Seo had requested Kim to design the building with the imagery of male and female reproductive organs in mind.

While on the layout you can see clearly that this building is inspired from male’s reproductive organs, but the outdoor views from this building is just looks like a unique building with white pink fascade with rounded wals.

Before the building was taken down as part of industrial development, back then, the first floor used to housed consultation rooms, while the second and third floors had treatment rooms, and the fourth contained residential space for the doctors. 

However, these days it was converted into Arium’s office space as Arium bought this building to preserve the heritage. Another great architecture with meaning for you to take a pictures.

Sebitseom

Sebitseom is located near Banpo bridge in Seoul. You all might already knew banpo bridge known for it’s beautiful fountain. Sebitseom is just right next to it. Sebitseom made up of four artificial islands namely Gavit, Chaevit, Solvit and Yevit.

Sebitseom served as entertainment district that offers restaurants, performance hall, cultural experience, water leisure facilities and media art gallery. At night, Sebitseom is really beautiful when the light is all turn on, you can then see the colorful and beautiful architecture shape of sebitseom.

ÅLAND Hongdae

Alland hongdae is surrounded by universities nearby, the dynamic, the inspirations and meaning behind it’s multi-faceted exterior is to celebrate the youthful energy of the students, and the out-of-the-box creative design.

Simone Handbag Museum

Simone Handbag Museum was designed by Charlie Smith Design and Korean architects U.A.D. Architects Group. This building literally take it’s inspiration and shape from Handbag. It’s opened back then in 2012 in an upscale fashionable district of Gangnam in Seoul

You can join their 1 month DIY handbag workshop that’s held at Basement 4 of this museum in which at the end of workshop, you will bring home your own made handbag. Registration can be done over the phone or directly at the counter. It is priced at KRW200,000.

For your informations, workshops are not in session at the moment during the pandemic to prevent any cluster of the disease.

Shrimp Tower

Shrimp Tower is located in Sorae Port, the largest seafood market in Incheon that is famous for its shrimps. For your informations, in Korea shrimps is a symbol of wealth.

Shrimp tower is just open last year, features a three story building with an observatory on the top floor. A LED light show held every evening from 7PM till 9PM, lighting up the Shrimp Tower in various colours.

Hyundai Pavilion Yeosu Expo

The Hyundai Pavilion was another great building architecture designed by Unsangdong Architects, who are famous and well known for their cutting-edge and out of the box designs. The building shape was largely inspired from a soundbox, with the meaning of being a projector of the surrounding nature’s energy.

The back of the pavilion displays a letter “H”, for “Hyundai” Motor Group.

Summit Gallery

Summit Gallery was also designed by Unsangdong Architects. This Gallery looks like a vibrations of a radio frequency, yet this building is actually get it’s form from compressed spring ideas. However, the real functions of concentric circles that form cylindrical tunnels is actually a walkway, and a communal space for meetings.

The gallery opened back then in 2008, was known as the Kring Culture Complex. However, the year after that in 2009, Summit Prugio, bought the building. It was renamed “Prugio Valley”, before it changed into “Summit Gallery”. Currently, the gallery housing three creative studios, a cooking classroom, a theatre, and several rental lounges.

Two Moon

Two Moon was designed by Korean architect Moon Hoon. This Two Moon is his worl with 2 siblings clients and inspired from the movie Two Moon Junction.

As you see, other than the two moon connected one another, there are constellations on the exterior of the building which is Gemini and Scorpio constellations, the zodiac of the clients.
