Jeju Island is known as Hawaii of South Korea, and also famous for its natural beauty such as volcanic landmarks, white sand beaches, waterfalls, and other natural wonders. 

Why I share this hidden gems to do in Jeju Island in South Korea is that because most of the things I shared in the post before about jeju island is usually full packed and filled with the crowd. However, this hidden gems, just like it’s name, it is hidden from most tourist, so you can expect this places are not as crowded as the other must visit attractions you read in my previous post about Jeju Island.

Gasiri Wind Power Plant Canola Field 가시리 풍력발전소

The Gasiri Wind Power Plant is a field of beautiful yellow beacons with wind turbines as the backdrop for your postcards photos. If you visit during spring, the Noksan-ro road that lines the way into the wind power farm is even lined with Cherry Blossoms!

Boromwat

Boromwat Buckwheat fields gained popularity after being featured in the Korean hit drama “Goblin”. If you visit in summer, there are even fields of hydrangeas and lavender and farm animals like chickens, goats and sheep all around the fields.

A trendy and quirky select shop that has a wide array of unique artistic items, of which many are handmade. You can find items such as handmade soaps, candles, as well as fun interior decorating pieces and even books. The eclectic selection of goods is definitely worth checking out!

Saryeoni Forest Trail

For the more adventurous types, escape into nature on the Saryeoni Forest Trail. It is one of Jeju’s top forest walking trails, and you can even find some wild animals on the path.

Bonte Museum

It is something different from the usual Teddy Bear museum or Hello Kitty Island. You can check out this museum, especially the Yayoi Kusama Infinity Mirrored Room. It feels like you’ve stepped into a whole new galaxy as soon as you enter the room.

  • How To Get There : Take bus 600 at Arrival Gate 1 of Jeju International Airport and alight at Yeomiji Botanic Gardens, from there hop onto a cab to Bonte Museum. It should cost you about KRW10,000

Mendorongjang Flea Market

Jeju Island is known to be a haven for artists of all genres, and many of them choose to offer their creations for sale at Jeju’s flea markets. One such flea market that is growing in popularity is the Mendorongjang, located east of Jeju City, next to Hamdeok Beach.

You can find a variety of different items, such as handmade clothing, jewelry, art pieces, interior decorating items, and so much more.

It is set up on the grassy field next to Hamdeok Beach, you can enjoy some light shopping with a beautiful ocean view, as well as take a light, scenic stroll around the area on their walking trails.

How to get around Jeju Island?

There are two different buses you can take after landing depending on where you’re headed which is the airport limousine bus or the city bus. You can pay for your rides with the T-Money card to save your cash to pay for other things.

Jeju City Bus

The Jeju City Bus offers you ultimate flexibility with their hop on and hop off policy. The bus departs every hour allowing you plenty of time to visit each site before heading off to the next.

Car

If you’re up for a road trip, one of the best options would be to rent a car. This gives you the freedom to head to any of the spots on this list at your own pace and you can also pay the driver to drive you to all destinations you wanted to go.

Where is Jeju Island?

Jeju Island 제주도 is the largest island that located in Jeju Province. To be exact, Jeju island lies in the Korea Strait, below the Korean Peninsula, south of the Southern Jeolla Province in South Korea.

Go to Jeju from Seoul

You will need to take a short one hour flight from Seoul to Jeju Island. There are multiple carriers with plenty of flights daily so you won’t have to worry about not being able to get there.

There is only one airport in Jeju Island, Jeju International Airport and you can fly from either Incheon International Airport or Gimpo Airport.

Best time to visit Jeju

The best time to visit Jeju is in Spring (March to early April) where the weather is pleasantly mild and there are beautiful Cherry Blossom, Canola and Azaleas in full bloom. However it also mean that there will be very crowd seasons to come.
